When you were a single back in the olden days, it didn’t exactly have a good connotation to it, especially when it came to women. Normally, women who never got married were considered to be spinsters and weren’t exactly the happiest of people. These days, it is more common for women to choose to stay single. Now we can see them more independent and there is nothing wrong with that.

For the Jewish people, most of them do choose to get married. Therefore, Jewish dating is very popular these days. In the past, it would definitely have been a taboo to find singles Jewish people dating. Back in the day, there was a very common tradition of finding a good partner. That common tradition was known as having an arranged marriage. These days you won’t find arranged marriages very common, but it does still go on with some cultures and with some traditions.

Families were usually the ones who arranged a marriage through the help of the matchmaker. A matchmaker was an elder woman who would find young men and women who could be compatible for one another. She was usually respected by many and sought after to find a good match for the singles Jewish men and women. In some cases, many of these single Jews only meet each other for the first time during the wedding ceremony. I am sure you can just imagine how nervous they must have felt with this kind of arrangement.

However, it wasn’t questioned and indeed it stuck with the tradition and culture of the Jews dating back from the early history of Abraham. In our modern world today, there are tons of singles Jewish who are now out and about. They no longer need to wait for an arranged marriage or a matchmaker. They are indeed free to marry whomever they choose to marry.

It is not illegal for them to marry a person who is a non-Jew. In fact, many Jews have married men and women who aren’t Jewish. In turn many of these non-Jews convert to Judaism. However, for the majority, many singles still decide to marry within their own kind because they find that it is much more effective and helpful for them to do so. They believe that their marriage can last because from the start it was firmly grounded in the same traditions and beliefs of their heritage.

It is nice to see how many Jews have taken control of their dating life. You can see that they don’t just stay in the box, but they allow themselves to go out of it. One of the most common ways they go out of the box is through online dating. There are has been many great testaments of single Jews finding their love online and making it work. Other ways that Jews have stepped out of the box is that they decide to go to places or talk to people that they normally wouldn’t have done so. It has been good to see that they are active in going out of their shell allowing themselves to fully mingle with others.
